Dr. Plowman, a licensed psychologist, provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couple, and family-based interventions. Although she treats a variety of concerns, she has expertise assisting clients with life changes and transitions, coping with traumatic life experiences, dissatisfaction in significant relationships, issues related to body image and unhealthy eating patterns, parenting and behavioral challenges, and having difficulty managing feelings, such as depression, stress, anxiety, and anger. Dr. Plowman focuses on increasing a client’s self-awareness and assists them in establishing new ways to cope with their difficulties that are consistent with the client’s personal values and beliefs.

Dr. Plowman earned her Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology at Brigham Young University, where she serves as an adjunct professor and participated in research on eating disorders, self-esteem, women’s issues, and school behavioral interventions. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology and Elementary Education at BYU, she completed graduate coursework in educational therapy at University of California–Berkeley, University of California–Santa Cruz, University of Virginia, and Trinity College.

Dr. Plowman has provided psychotherapy and psychological assessment in a variety of settings, including community mental health, drug-alcohol-addiction treatment facilities, residential and wilderness treatment programs, K-12 schools, and university clinics. She has significant experience in psychological evaluation of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder as well as mental health, personality development, academic achievement, intelligence, and career/vocation. With more than 20 years’ experience in public education in Maryland, Virginia, California, and Utah, Dr. Plowman has been instrumental in helping families and students work effectively with the educational environment to find the solutions that promote academic success. In her private practice, she continues her involvement with public education by providing psychological, assessment, and consultation services to Utah charter schools.

Even though she loves the work she does, Dr. Plowman dreams of having more time to backpack, snowshoe, and garden. Until those dreams occur, however, she has the excellent fortune of being married to her sweetheart and mother of four great young adults.
