Dr. Thompson is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive training and experience working with children and adolescents
presenting with an array of emotional, developmental, social and educational challenges. Dr. Thompson's expertise lies in working with
issues and difficulties related to depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment disorders, eating disorders and body image problems, ADHD
and learning disabilities.
Dr. Thompson received both her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and Master's Degree (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in
Forensics, from Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California. Dr. Thompson completed her award winning pre-doctoral internship and
post-doctoral residency requirements at A Better Way Child & Family Services located in Berkeley, California. She was one of 20
interns chosen in the state of California to receive an award for her dedication to, and excellent work in, the field of psychology. Prior
to completing her graduate studies, Dr. Thompson graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
As part of her Doctoral Residency training program, Dr. Thompson became a certified youth trauma clinician through the University of
Washington, as well as receiving certification from the University of California, Davis as an expert in PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction
Therapy). Dr. Thompson has also completed extensive research on eating disorders and became an expert on the treatment and
assessment of clients with bulimia through her dissertation, titled "Bulimia Nervosa and Treatment Completion: Problems related to drop
out and assessment of clients with bulimia."
Dr. Thompson also has specific experience related to psychological testing (cognitive, academic, emotional/personality and ADHD
testing) and working as a therapist for the Juvenile Justice Center in Oxnard, California. She is also currently a mobile assessor for Salt
Lake Behavioral Health, where Dr. Thompson is traveling to emergency rooms and conducting assessments for patients in crisis.
When not working, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with her husband and children, exploring Utah's great outdoors, watching
movies, and listening to music.
